So here we are. We made it to another January and now we feel the need to begin again. We want a fresh start. We want to experience newness. We look back on what we didn’t like, what we didn’t complete, what we wished could have happened and we say this year. We are going to make it happen this year. If you are anything like me, January can present some anxiety and stress and we try to come up with our “word” for the year or a focus and direction to pursue. It is New Year’s Resolution time, or is it? I came across a list that was posted and instead of it being a list of resolutions, it was a list of New Year Intentions. I like that. I have decided that I am going to live my life with intentions this year. My intentions are guided by questions like- In this year who do I want to be? How do I want to follow God? How do I want to make Him known?

Living a life of purpose begins with living on purpose for the one who created us with a purpose.

Most of us make lists of things we want to change or accomplish because we want to our lives to count for something. I was watching a movie and one of the lines a character said really jumped out at me. She said the question is not what is the meaning of life, but how do I give or live my life with more meaning? Where ever we are, whatever situation we are in or are about to face, meaning already exists. We have to be intentional about finding the meaning in the moment, finding meaning in the circumstance, finding meaning in being who we are, where we are at any given time.

How do we do that? Living a life of purpose begins with living on purpose for the one who created us with a purpose.

My friend posted on social media his intentions for this year. I loved them. He said- goals for 2022- Pray more. Read the Bible more. Trust God more. I think these are intentions all of us need to set and can do. These goals will certainly help us to live our lives with more meaning. If we put God first in everything we do, then we can be certain that what we do and who we are will count for His kingdom building. The benefits of these goals bear so much fruit.

If we pray more, read more of His word and choose trust our relationship with God will become stronger. Isn’t that the life of intention that we want? I know I do.

If we pray more, read more of His word and choose trust, we can be certain that God will guide us every step of 2022.

If we pray more, read more of His word and choose trust, we can with confidence place everything in God’s hands and watch Him do amazing things with us and through us.

If we pray more, read more of His word and choose trust, we get drawn closer to God and that is the best gift received for 2022.

With these intentions who needs resolutions. Whatever change God wants to bring will happen. 2022 here I come! Are you ready? I am.
