How many times have many of us expressed these words and feelings. There is so much that is draining our energy. There is so much that is draining my energy. My mind is tired. My emotions are tired. My body is tired. This is the season I am in and I am not sure how long it is going to last. I have to keep going. There are many of us in this similar experience. How are we to keep going? Can I share with you my plan?

I find that when I am tired, I do less of the things I love doing.

I keep going by stopping to drop my burdens at the feet of Jesus. I keep going by accepting Jesus’ invitation to come to him. He says to all of us in Mathew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” His arms are big enough to carry all our burdens and to carry us to a place of rest. He can give you and me rest at the same time. Won’t you join me?
I keep going in his strength. I exchange my weakness for his strength. I hear what he says to me and listen to his voice say what he told Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness”. His message is the same to us too. God is supernatural. I am not super, only natural, and I need his infusion of power. I suspect that you do as well. Won’t you join me in letting grace do something miraculous?

I find that when I am tired, I do less of the things I love doing. I am so thankful that when my lips can’t raise a melody that there is one I still hear. When I am too tired to sing, my Lord raises a song. He is always singing, and it is in my moments of tiredness, I learn to listen more intently to his melody. Zephaniah 3:17 reminds me, “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love, he will no longer rebuke you but will rejoice over you with singing.” Won’t you join me in listening to a sweet song of love made just for us?

I am blessed to have a close friend that is constantly lifting a prayer for me. You do too! When we are so tired that our messages don’t make sense, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.” The Holy Spirit does not fall asleep in prayer like I do! You can trust him to keep watch over your prayers! Won’t you join me in letting him speak to God on our behalf?
I am tired. I need sleep. I will choose not to be like that baby who fights sleep. I am going to let God carry me, sing to me, whisper his message and do what he does best as my ABBA Father as I rest in his arms. He keeps his promises. Won’t you join me in letting these words bring you the rest you need? I am going to meditate on and repeat them, lay my head on my pillow and let God do the rest.

“…he gives his beloved sleep” Psalm 127:2

“When you lie down, you will not be afraid, when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.” Proverbs 3:24

“I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4:8

Sweet Dreams, my friends. Rest well in Jesus. He never tires of being all we need.
