God Is In Everything. This was the name of the conference at which I was asked to speak. The theme was “We Made It.” As I pondered the conference title and this year’s theme, two things occurred to me: 1. There is no way to make it without God being in everything. 2. God already knew “we made it” because He made it possible; because He goes before us; because He is always with us. With God always being with us, it means that He is in everything. With God working all things together for our good, there is only one outcome. We make it.
We use the term “We made it” to refer to so many things and it is because of God that it is so.
Once again God shows us His power at work in our lives. His Word and promises come alive for us.
We Made It – Creation
Scripture tells us in Colossians 1:16-17, “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” He is the first to create. He is a creative God. He passes creative skill and blessing on to us. We can say we made this or that and we made it because of God. As Psalms 90:17 or Colossians 3:23 states, “God establishes the work of our hands and whatever we do, we do to honour God.” God is in everything we do.
We Made It – Destination
We continually pray for safe travels for ourselves and loved ones. Whether it is to faraway places, to work, or just in our daily out and about routines, we want to know that our loved ones have arrived. We are able to be at peace praying for safety. When we hear “We made it” our peace is confirmed. We trust God to keep His Word – Psalm 121:7-8, “The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore”. Proverbs 3:23, “Then you will go on your way in safety and your foot will not stumble.” God is in everyplace we go.
We Made It – Goal
We all have goals. We have desires we want to fulfill. We have aspirations and challenges we want to overcome. Deadlines that have to be met and milestones to be crossed. When we complete these, we celebrate and others celebrate with us. We shout, “We did it… We made it!”
Once again God shows us His power at work in our lives. His Word and promises come alive for us. Proverbs 16:3, “Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” 2 Chronicles 15:7, “Be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. God is in the journey because He prepared it.”
God is in our purpose.
We Made It – Through Difficult Times
How many of us have said some form of the phrase, “I don’t know how I can make it…” or, “I never would have made it but for God” We all have experienced coming out of a storm stronger or wiser, or even by the skin of our teeth BUT glory be to God we have a testimony. We have made the faith choice to test, Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” We have relied on Deuteronomy 31:8, “It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Our lives have been on repeat experience of Proverbs 34:17, “When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.” We have found through personal experience that God is in and working out every situation. God is in our experiences.
May Philippians 4:13, not just be a verse but our truth. “I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace” (Amplified Version).
We made it before, We will make it again…and again…and again…Always because God is in everything!
