One day at a time has truly been my focus these days. There are so many things calling for my attention and I would be overwhelmed if I answered the call for all of them without pacing myself. Sometimes it is truly one moment, one minute, rather than a whole day!
Life has been busy and not because I over extended myself and didn't set time for rest but because a lot of unexpected things happened that no one can plan for, while life was already busy with the unexpected that has lasted longer than expected and normal everyday life still has to happen. Whew! I am tired just trying to explain that all, but I couldn't have said it better myself! LOL
Has your life ever been that way?
We are in that season and perhaps you are as well. Sick elderly parent, growing busy children, work transitions, open doors and ministry opportunities and then insert a car accident, insert flu illnesses, insert bad weather, insert a fall and concussion, insert whatever new challenge has been added.
Life can feel like it is spinning out of control!
What do you do? How do you make it through one day at a time?
One day at a time with sweet Jesus is the only way. I have learned to focus on the positive while I work through the complicated.
Practically it looks like enjoying that cup of tea, even if it is only a few minutes. Listening to positive and worshipful music. Making it to work on time and safely. Having a meal on the table for my family even if it is not the meal I planned or intended. Visiting my parents even if it is less time than I had hoped for. God giving wonderful speaking opportunities and them happening even though the enemy tried to mess it up. I got there. I spoke. We were all blessed!
Spiritually it looks like whispering thanksgiving and gratitude for grace that is sufficient, for His presence that never leaves or forsakes me, for His Word that I can hold on to, for a safe space to cry and be held and accepted, for friends upholding me in prayer.
God is always doing something good, even when life feels less than. God is always in control even when life is spinning out of control. My focus on Jesus and His presence is the positive the steers the ship in the storm and through the storm. He is the only one and only way to take through the complicated. As Andre Crouch reminds us, "If I didn't have a problem, I wouldn't know that God could solve them". Through it all...learn to...choose to...trust Jesus.
