If we only think we can hear from God in our designated prayer and devotional times, we miss out on amazing and intimate messages from God. God has written on a wall (Daniel 5). God has spoken through a donkey (Numbers 22:21-29). God spoke through a dream (Joseph in the Old Testament, Joseph in the New Testament, Paul…and to many more). God’s voice came through the clouds in the sky (Matthew 3:17). God will communicate with us, anywhere and everywhere he chooses.
He communicated so intimately with me, in an unexpected way and time. I was having lunch with some Mary Kay sisters. I wasn’t even thinking about a prayer request that I have been praying daily about for the last few months, but God was. Lunch with these ladies and our connection, had nothing to do with this prayer request, yet God saw fit to send me a message. In the middle of a separate moment of ordinary, God brought extraordinary.
I was handed a gift and written on that gift was the exact word of what my prayers were about. That word may not have meant anything to anyone else or it may have meant something different to someone else, but God knew exactly what it meant to me. God was discrete, yet it was a very obvious and personal message. No one could or would have known, unless I told them.
That is exactly God. He ministers to the one, while ministering to the masses. He handles one prayer request, while answering more than we know. Our God is everywhere, while being right where we need Him to be. He is hearing. He is paying attention. He sees us.
The question is- are we listening and paying attention? Are we looking for where or when God might show up? God cannot be contained to a box – a time or space. We must be on alert and sensitive to His moving. We don’t know the when or where, but we know the certainty of God with us and God for us. We leave our prayers with God and in His hands but God does not leave us. When He is ready, and sometimes when we least expect it, God comes real close, to deliver a message. The message is signed, from God with love, and is just for you.
